Happy New Year 2019

December 31, 2018 By Jorge Garcia Leave a Comment

This an important time of the year for many Brethren in setting goals and resolutions for the year to come. What goals have you set for yourself in the lodge? Is there a piece of ritual that you would like to learn?
Is your goal to be a more active lodge member?
Is there a friend that you plan to talk to about becoming a Freemason?

Of course, many of us don’t always follow through on their resolutions and within a couple of weeks, they are largely forgotten. But as a Freemason, whatever your particular goal or resolution might be, you have a great advantage. In our Fraternity, there is always a trusty brother waiting to assist you. Perhaps you are that brother who will be asked to assist.
One of our purposes is to make good men better. I can’t think of any better way to do this than helping another brother achieve a goal!

I hope that your 2019 or 6019 A.L. is a prosperous one in achieving both your personal goals and Masonic goals.

Sincerely & Fraternally,
W. Bro. Romeo Godines
W. Master Lodge 669

Christmas Family Festive Board

December 13, 2018 By Jorge Garcia Leave a Comment

Sir George Clark Memorial Lodge 669 marked the end of another successful year with a Christmas Family Festive board, in a beautifully decorated dining room at Freemasons’ Hall, Arthur Square, Belfast
Lodge Brethren, family, and friends enjoyed an excellent traditional Christmas meal, and a special visit from Santa Claus with gifts for the children, ladies, and staff.
Cameron Beggs entertained us with his bagpipes.
Charity donations of £700 each were made to both Belfast Masonic Charity Fund and Diabetes UK NI which were well received. Our total of donations made to charity in 2018 was £2,700, split evenly between Masonic and non-Masonic charities
It all made for a very happy and festive evening as can clearly be seen in the excellent pictures taken by Bro. Abraham Cabidog.

WHAT IS FREEMASONRY?

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. Its roots lie in the traditions and ceremonies of the medieval stonemasons who built our cathedrals and castles. Some rituals are still celebrated today.

VALUES

Freemasonry has always been about making good men better. Individuals aim to shape their lives around five core principles.

Integrity: We say what we mean, and we keep our promises.

Kindness: Although our families come first, we believe in playing a key role in our communities and give time and money to charitable ventures.

Honesty: We pride ourselves on openness, about what being a Freemason means for us.

Fairness: We treat everyone as equal – we listen to others, explore any differences and look for common ground.

Tolerance: We respect the opinions of others and behave with understanding towards them.

IS FREEMASONRY FOR ME?

Freemasonry means different things to every individual, making many new friends, contributing to society, celebrating a long tradition, experiencing personal growth, having fun.

Becoming a Freemason

Many people assume that to become a Freemason, a man must be invited to join. This is not so, in fact, while members might encourage their friends to join, they do not typically recruit or invite candidates for membership.

If you are interested in joining us, we encourage you to simply ask any Freemason. If you don’t know a member and wish to join, please email us via our Secretary HERE with your name, and contact details.
After each Lodge 669 meeting, we have an informal meal which applicants can also attend to meet the Lodge members, and enjoy some excellent food and good company.
We look forward to meeting you.

“There are no strangers in Freemasonry, only friends you’ve yet to meet.” George Washington
